#TRAILERCHEST: This new thriller from the makers of Sicario and Hell Or High Water already has Oscar buzz

Fans of smart and dark thrillers should start getting excited

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Wind River.

Plot’s it all about?

Two of the best (and darkest) thrillers of recent years involved Emily Blunt trying to dismantle the Mexican drug cartel (Sicario) and Chris Pine robbing banks in the money-hungry southern States of America (Hell Or High Water), and they were both written by the same guy – Taylor Sheridan.

This time around, Sheridan is taking on the director’s chair too, with Wind River telling the story of a professional hunter (Renner) discovering the body of a dead girl on a Native American reservation, and forced to team up with a young FBI agent (Olsen) to discover the murderer.

Tackling a new and interesting heritage such as the Native Americans and how they would deal with a murder on their own front-step is a new jump-off point for a murder mystery thriller, and Wind River already screened in Cannes this year were it was greeted with universally positive reviews and talk that Renner could potentially be worth of an Oscar nomination for his performance.

Either way, this will definitely be one of the must watches when it reaches Irish cinemas later this year.

Starring: Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Jon Bernthal

Directed by: Taylor Sheridan

Irish release date: 8 September

Enjoy!
