Video: ’90s kids will love the Cartoon Battle sketch on Republic of Telly tonight

Ah, that brought back some great memories.

Ah, that brought back some great memories.

Obviously we’re completely and utterly biased, but we don’t think any generation has or ever will have it as good when it comes to cartoons than children of the late ‘80s through to the mid-‘90s.

We could go on all day but off the top of our heads there was the likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dungeons and Dragons, James Bond Junior and Captain Planet, many of which were featured in a nostalgic and very funny sketch on Republic of Telly tonight.

Staged in the manner of the rival news teams’ battle in Anchorman, the rival gangs in tonight’s sketch had something of a cartoon theme tune off (does that make sense? It should do after watching the video above) in an underground car park, a tension-filled encounter that was only settled when one gang came up with a theme tune that could not be bettered.

You’ve guessed it, it’s the theme from Dogtanian And The Three Muskehounds.

Well worth a look for a trip down memory lane and for a few laughs as well; good work as always from the Republic of Telly crew.
