We usually know Elijah Wood as a friendly little hobbit in The Lord of the Rings, but Maniac sees him as a cold blooded killer.

Playing Frank, a guy with severe mammy-issues, Wood seems to be trying to get away from his hobbit ways and get his teeth into something more meaty.
Frank’s mammy was a bit mean to him and also a working prostitute which has the poor fella a tad messed up. His mammy dies and so what does he do? Scalp and kill women of course.
A remake of the 1980 movie of the same name, Maniac is a dark thriller directed by Franck Khalfoun, of Wrong Turn at Tahoe and P2.
The movie also stars Nora Arnezeder, Jan Broberg and America Olivo.
As is the craze for movie studios at the moment, the first six minutes have been released.
