Video: Hilarious sketch imagines what it would be like if Pingu was Irish (NSFW)

Pingu like you've never seen it before

“Jaysus, ’tis cold now alright.”

Many of you are probably too young to remember Pingu, but Irish people of a certain generation will fondly recall a cartoon featuring a family of penguins living in the South Pole.

Although old episodes still feature the odd time on CBeebies (so we’re told), the last Pingu episodes were made years and years ago, but such was its appeal that it retains a cult following to this day.

With that in mind, Irish fans of the cartoon will love the Irish recreation of Pingu by Simon Murdoch & Garry Curran of iRadio, which mainly involves the two penguins making a fire, trying to cook some corn and swearing in a manner that fans of the original series will not be used to.

The end product is not unlike some of the work put out by the excellent Sminky Shorts over the years and is nearly guaranteed to give you a good laugh; we certainly got a great kick out of it anyway.
