Irvine Welsh talks about his attitude to porn, his most recent novel and the possibility of a sequel to Trainspotting.
Irvine Welsh says that the possibility of a sequel to the iconic Trainspotting film is still “50-50” and the film will only be made if a decent story can be found.
“If we can get a good script for it, we’ll do it. If we can’t, we won’t. Nobody needs the money so we don’t want to trash the legacy,” the Edinburgh-born writer told Olaf Tyaransen during an interview in Galway city last week.
The interview took place in a sex shop, and Welsh was typically forthright when asked if he tends to spend much of his time in such establishments.
“I don’t, no. I’ve never been a great consumer of porn. I always get really depressed watching porn. I always feel like I’ve gatecrashed somebody else’s party, basically.”
