As if there was any more proof needed that the O’Donovans should have their own show.
The Late Late show returned for a new season on Friday night and it was a very impressive opening indeed, thanks in no small part to the contribution of the charismatic guests.
Everyone was loving the O’Donovans reflecting on their Olympic triumph and their new status as national treasures, while the likes of Michael Conlan, Annalise Murphy, Al Porter and Picture This went down very well with the audience.
Before the show went live to hundreds of thousands of people nationwide, there was plenty of fun had backstage, when the O’Donovans and Michael Conlan met Al Porter, who was keen to find out the origin of the now legendary ‘Pull like a dog’ quote.
We’re sure they discussed that, and plenty more, on their trip to Coppers a little later in the evening.
Although there were cameras following them around, it’s interesting to see the guests in a more relaxed setting before heading out into the spotlight; hopefully RTÉ will keep this up for more of the same throughout the new season.
