Video: The new trailer for the apocalyptic Snowpiercer is pretty epic

Thomas the Tanked Engine

Bong Joon-ho, the South Korean brain box behind cult horror cracker, The Host, has released the latest trailer for his debut English-language film, Snowpiercer.

Set in the year 2031, a new ice age has wiped out much of humanity following a botched global warming experiment.

We’re not sure at this point whether Al Gore had anything to do with it though.

What’s left of the human race trundles across the frozen landscape on a train called the Snowpiercer, a massive and incredible vehicle that is powered by ‘a sacred perpetual-motion engine’. As is clear from the trailer below, the train’s carriages are divided by class and, as the added tension of the apocalypse builds, this miniature society begins to fall apart.

JOE have our fingers crossed Irish Rail don’t get any funny ideas after watching it.

The film has a great cast including John Hurt, Jamie Bell, Song Kang-ho, Ed Harris and the always excellent Tilda Swinton, who looks to be in full-on nasty, screechy, villainous form.

Our hero though, is played by Chris Evans and, in true Hollywood style, has a fantastically heroic and inspiring name…

Curtis. The hero’s name is Curtis.
