Shown at Cannes this week this is a trailer for The Vanishing Act: The Untold Story of the Missing Malaysian Plane.

Just over two months have passed since Malaysian Flight MH370 disappeared shortly after it left Kuala Lumpar bound for Beijing. Since then, despite a global search and a huge amount of theories put forward for its whereabouts, the plane and the 239 people aboard remain missing.

However, already a film about the ‘true’ story is being made, a trailer for which has been shown at the Cannes film festival this week.

Called The Vanishing Act: The Untold Story of the Missing Malaysian Plane, Indian film company Rupesh Paul Productions has defended the film.

“Our movie is a thriller,” Paul told the Hollywood Reporter. “It will not be based on stupid things. There will not be a [gun] and there will not be any aliens. The controversy [of the missing plane] will help indirectly, but we are not cashing in on the flight.”

The company say that it is “the story of five young people, their plans on revenge and the resulting havoc they infuse on the world”. It is also described as being “inspired from events in real life”.

Paul is looking for investors in the project and he says he has interest from Malaysia and China.
