WATCH: James Corden staged an incredible cardboard Carpool Karaoke at the Grammys last night

Rudi Kinsella

He’s come a long way from eating Indian food with Gavin and Stacey.

Most of us know James Corden from his memorable performance as Smithy in Gavin and Stacey, but in America, his name is synonymous with Carpool Karaoke, a segment from The Late Late Show in which he picks up a celebrity in his car, and they have a chat and a little sing-song. It’s class.

Therefore it was almost a foregone conclusion that Corden would attempt some sort of Carpool Karaoke while hosting the Grammys last night. And that he did.

Corden sat in a cardboard car, with Jenifer Lopez in the passenger seat, along with Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Ryan Tedder, John Legend, Jason DeRulo and Neil Diamond to sing the classic song ‘Sweet Caroline’.

The stars weren’t as brushed up on the lyrics as Corden was, but it’s still a fun watch.

Despite the huge names here, it was Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy who stole the show, after arriving fashionably late to the sketch.

Meanwhile, her mother was off winning the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album, and sharing the Best Album award with Adele, who broke her award in half to share with who she felt was the deserved winner.

Adele had a busy night last night. When she wasn’t breaking awards in half, she was performing a moving tribute to George Michael, twice.
