All it needed was Daithí…
Director Glenn Weiss used his time onstage while accepting the Emmy Award for best director for a variety special Monday to do something rather special… propose to his girlfriend.
Weiss began on a sad note, talking about his mother who died two weeks ago. “She adored my girlfriend Jan,” he said. “Jan, you are the sunshine in my life. And mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine.”
Then things cranked up a notch as he continued: “You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend, because I want to call you my wife.”
We also love the reaction of Leslie Jones…

It was reminiscent of the Rose of Tralee a few years ago when something similar happened on stage, although admittedly, Weiss’s now fiancé, didn’t say ‘no’ at any stage… unlike on the Rose of Tralee.

Former New Orleans Rose Molly Molloy Gamble caused a stir when she said ‘no’ 11 times after her boyfriend Kyle Catlett got down on bended knee on the Rose of Tralee stage, before eventually saying ‘yes’.
The proposal became famous, going viral and being watched by millions more around the world.
