Pat Hickey has been denied bail by a judge in Brazil as he faces allegations regarding the illegal resale of tickets for the Olympics.
Since the news broke, Hickey has temporarily resigned as president of the Olympic Council of Ireland following his arrest.
After being admitted to the Samaritano Hospital, Mr Hickey was discharged and driven by the Civil Police to the Carlos Eboli Criminal Institute in downtown Rio, according to reports by RTE.
Hickey has since been moved to a police processing centre and the issue is expected to be escalated to Polinter, an inter-state investigations unit.
It’s believed that this decision to deny Hickey bail will be appealed to a higher court.
