Donald Trump responds to Kim Jong-un’s nuclear threat by talking about the size of his button

Michael Lanigan

This is literally the scenario countless political cartoonists have joked about.

One day after the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un issued the first nuclear threat of 2018, Donald Trump has responded by telling the world how big his nuclear button is.

The US President was replying to Kim after he had said, “The entire United States is within range of our nuclear weapons.”

The North Korean dictator went on to add that “a nuclear button is always on my desk”.

“This is reality, not a threat,” Jong-un said. “This year, we should focus on mass-producing nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles for operational deployment. These weapons will only be used if our society is threatened.”

Now, President Trump hit back via Twitter, “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

It may just be another of his Twitter ramblings, but credit where credit’s due. Somehow Trump managed to emerge from this sounding more unhinged, turning a potential nuclear war into another game of size comparisons.

This isn’t even a thinly veiled metaphor. It’s literally a game of ‘who’s dick is bigger’ and one that seems to miss the point of a button, namely: It’s not the size that matters, but how you use it.
