Here are the 6 best movies on TV tonight

Romantic comedies and Tarantino epics. Not in the same movie, obviously.

Here we are, mid-week, and what is there better to do than watch a movie?

Tarantino’s new movie Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood is released in cinemas today (our review is here), and we’ve also reviewed all of the other new releases right here.

But if you’d rather stay on the couch, and maybe catch an older Tarantino flick (or one of the other five movies we decided are the best of what is on tonight), then here are your options:

WEDNESDAY 14 AUGUST

About Time – FilmFour – 6.40pm

Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams star in a time-travelling romantic-comedy that will have you laughing as much as crying.

RED – FilmFour – 9pm

Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and more are classified Retired but Extremely Dangerous, and when they’re all targeted for assassination, they’re forced to come out of retirement to defend themselves.

Couples Retreat – Comedy Central – 9pm

An all-star cast feature in this rom-com about a group of friends who go to a paradise island to work on their relationships, but more cracks begin to appear than any of them were ready for.

Runaway Bride – RTE One – 9.35pm

The Pretty Woman reunion finds Julia Roberts as the woman who keeps falling in love, keeps planning on getting married, but then bolts right at the altar, while Richard Gere is the journalist sent to write a story on her and ends up falling for her himself.

Enter The Dragon – ITV4 – 10pm

Bruce Lee’s classic, in which he enters a kung fu competition in order to fight the drug dealer who was responsible for the death of his sister. Don’t come for the plot, but do stay for the fights.

Kill Bill Vol.1 – FilmFour – 11.15pm

Uma Thurman is fantastic as the kung fu master who gets revenge on the group of assassins who tried to kill her. Features some of the best fight scenes in all of cinema history.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
