Amazon Prime Video has just added 31 very big movies to its library

Plenty of new additions to choose from this week!

A few days ago, Netflix added 41 huge movies to its library, and not to be outdone, Amazon Prime Video has just revealed its own slate of new additions.

Starting with…

12 YEARS A SLAVE

The multi-Oscar winning drama is a tough but necessary watch.

50 FIRST DATES

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s reunion after The Wedding Singer is still pretty romantic and pretty comedic.

ATTACK THE BLOCK

John Boyega headlines this very entertaining sci-fi action-horror-comedy about a block of flats that come under attack by aliens.

BLOOD DIAMOND

Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connolly feature in this adventure drama about a priceless diamond that has a profound impact on everyone who comes across it.

CREED

Michael B. Jordan is tremendous in this Rocky sequel/spin-off, as is the returning Sly Stallone, now in a mentor role.

DETROIT

A very stacked cast – John Boyega, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie – star in this retelling of the 1967 street riot in Detroit.

DREDD

The brilliant adaptation of the Judge Dredd comic books, with Karl Urban tremendous in the title role.

THE EQUALIZER

Denzel Washington headlines this update on the much-loved TV series, playing a man who wants to live a quiet life but is dragged back into using his very violent skills.

THE GOLDEN COMPASS

The first in a proposed (but never actually made) trilogy based on the His Dark Materials books. Even a big budget and the presence of Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman and Ian McKellan couldn’t generate enough audience interest.

THE GREAT GATSBY

DiCaprio again, re-teaming with his Romeo & Juliet director Baz Luhrmann, for this opulent take on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic story.

JERRY MAGUIRE

Without a doubt, one of Tom Cruise’s very best movies.

JUST GO WITH IT

Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman star in this below-average rom-com.

THE LINCOLN LAWYER

Netflix attempted to adapt this series of novels (with middling results), but this Matthew McConaughey-fronted legal drama is actually pretty fantastic.

MOLLY’S GAME

The writer of The Social Network tackles one of the most interesting true-life celebrity stories of recent years, with Jessica Chastain and Kevin Costner giving some great performances.

MY SISTER’S KEEPER

Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin and Abigail Breslin star in this uncomfortable family drama.

NEXT

Nic Cage can kinda see the future in this interesting but not-fun-enough sci-fi action-thriller.

PAN’S LABYRINTH

Guillermo Del Toro’s beautiful and horrifying civil war fantasy is an absolute must-watch.

POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING

Andy Samberg’s very under-appreciated comedy puts boy bands and modern pop music under the mockumentary lens.

RED

Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich star in this fun action-comedy.

RED 2

Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones join the cast for this less-fun sequel.

ROCKY

The first one. The best one.

ROCKY II

The second one. Still pretty good.

ROCKY III

The third one. With Mr T.

ROCKY IV

The fourth one. With Ivan Drago.

ROCKY V

The fifth one. The worst one.

ROCKY BALBOA

The sixth one. The one with the computer simulation.

THE SMURFS 2

A family movie that should be kept away from kids.

STUART LITTLE

A family movie that the kids will actually really enjoy. Co-written by M. Night Shyamalan, believe it or not.

THAT’S MY BOY

One of the many, MANY bad Adam Sandler movies, this one dragging Andy Samberg down with him.

THE TIME TRAVELER’S WIFE

Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana star in this time-travelling romantic drama that can’t quite capture the magic of the book its based on.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO

Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks star as friends who decide to make a quick buck by filming a porno with their friends. Pretty entertaining, especially for Justin Long’s cameo.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
