Love him or hate him, it’ll be sad to see George Hook leaving Irish TV and radio, but he’s not going anywhere just yet…
Hook made the announcement on Twitter last night, simply saying that The Right Hook will end at the end of September 2016 while he plans to leave TV after the 2015 Rugby World Cup. So he’ll be around for another two years, at least.

Yesterday marked the first day of the 12th season of his show The Right Hook and it’s not surprising that George has decided to step down from NewsTalk after twelve years seeing as he’s been with the station since it started in 2002.
George’s no-nonsense approach to interviewing has made him one of the best-loved broadcasters Ireland has ever had the pleasure of listening to, even if you don’t agree with him, and we’ll definitely miss hearing about ‘the lovely Ingrid’ too.
