JOE meets Nick Frost – the super salsa star of Cuban Fury

JOE and Frosty the Showman chat about all the big topics including sexy salsa dancing, manly man beards and, most importantly, giant killer geese...

Eoghan Doherty

We caught up with Nick ‘feet of flames’  Frost ahead of the release of his brand new film Cuban Fury…

The funny, feel-good flick, which is Frosty the Showman’s first venture into the big, bad world of starring as the leading man, tells the tale of Bruce, a sad-sack engineer who, as a kid, was an unstoppable salsa machine.

JOE also used to be known as an unstoppable salsa machine but that was because we had a severely unhealthy addiction to constantly eating family-sized tubs of salsa dip. Mmmmmmmmm…

Anyway, where were we… Ah yes, Bruce hangs up his dancing shoes after being bullied as a child prodigy but, twenty-five years later, he decides to hit the dance floor once more after discovering that his attractive new boss Julia (Rashida Jones) has a passion for, that’s right, you guessed it, family-sized tubs of salsa dip salsa dancing.

Everyone knows that ladies love a man that can dance and so Bruce is unable to resist the lure of his old salsa shoes and so decides to become a big-hearted Billy Elliot in order to be “the parsnip to her butterfly.”

What a beautiful, romantic, root vegetable-based sentiment.

Co-starring the always excellent Olivia Colman as Bruce’s sister/Polynesian call-girl Sam, the eternally-grizzled Ian McShane as his veteran dance instructor, and with Irishman Chris O’Dowd perfectly playing Drew the office pr*ck, Cuban Fury is just like its superdeedooper star – immensely likable, fuzzy, sweet and a whole lot of feel-good fun. Trust JOE, it’s the perfect romantic date movie this Valentine’s weekend.

In fact, you’d have to have a heart of stone to not enjoy this film you MONSTER.

Eoghan Doherty, JOE’s resident Nick Frost fanboy, giddily met with the awesome actor who is better known for his fantastic work with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End), where the pair chatted about sexy salsa dancing, manly man beards and, most importantly, giant killer geese.

All the big topics…
