Netflix weekend picks

A special scary theme for the weekend that’s in it.

Spooky season has arrived.

You might feel like you’re a little bit too old to go trick or treating, and you might not have any plans to get dressed up.

But don’t worry, you can still tap into the spirit of Halloween, because Netflix has got you covered.

Here’s a list of our five picks for the weekend and we’ve even thrown in a scary suggestion or two for the week that’s in it.

TV show: The Haunting of Hill House

It has to be this one. If you’re binge-watching any TV series this weekend, make it this terrifying horror.

It is being called one of the best horror series ever made, and as well as being a great show, the spooky bits will genuinely scare the bejaysus out of you.

Watch it, but maybe not on your own.

Netflix original: Annihilation

Here at JOE we referred to Annihilation as “the prettiest, freakiest, scariest movie of 2018“, and if that’s not enough of a reason for you to watch it, we don’t know what is.

Natalie Portman is in it, and you’ll really enjoy the movie itself as well as the frightening moments along the way.

New to Netflix: Superbad

There’s nothing particularly scary about Superbad, but we couldn’t have all of our suggestions be spooky ones after all.

Superbad was added to Netflix earlier this week, and we are seriously judging you if you haven’t watched it since.

It is genuinely one of the funniest movies of all time.

Do it for McLovin.

Movie: 10 Cloverfield Lane

This psychological thriller is not one for the faint-hearted.

Directed by J.J Abrams, you know exactly what you’re in for here. Scares all round.

It has an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and stars John Goodman. What more do you need to know?

Documentary: Iverson

The NBA is back, so we just couldn’t ignore one of the best basketball documentaries ever made.

Allen Iverson changed the sport of basketball for good, but he was more than just an athlete.

This is an extremely good watch if you’ve had enough of the horror movies.
