Pic: An incredibly poignant Ghostbusters cartoon in tribute to the late Harold Ramis

Excuse us, but we think there’s something in our eye. Those damn onions.

Excuse us, but we think there’s something in our eye. Those damn onions.

Tributes have been flooding in for Harold Ramis following his death at the age of 69 yesterday, with former colleagues of the actor, writer and director and some of Hollywood’s biggest names coming forward to express their sadness at his passing and remember some of his finest work.

Having wrote, directed or starred in some of the best known comedies in the last 30 years or so – including Groundhog Day, National Lampoon’s Vacation and Knocked Up amongst others – Ramis had quite the Hollywood CV but he will arguably be best remembered for his role as Dr. Egon Spengler in the Ghostbusters movies in the mid to late 80s.

Of all the tributes that have been paid to him in the last day or so, there is perhaps none more poignant than a Ghostbusters cartoon drawn by artist Ash Vickers that has deservedly gained plenty of exposure on Twitter since it was posted last night.

Featuring Egon’s colleagues Peter, Raymond and Winston as well as the ghost trap that anyone who has ever watched the movies will remember very fondly indeed, it is enough to bring a grown man to tears, even a man as rational and not so prone to emotion as the character of Egon himself.

A fitting tribute to a fine man, he’ll be sorely missed.`
