It won’t be shown in Ireland unfortunately but the fact that’s it been shown at all is a start.
It was this afternoon confirmed that the controversial Seth Rogen and James Franco film will be shown by two independent cinema chains in the US on Christmas Day, following on from speculation over the weekend that it would indeed be released.
Sony had originally cancelled the release of the movie after cinemas planning to show it were threatened with “9/11 attacks” in the wake of the Sony email leak, threats which North Korea distanced themselves from over the weekend.
Whether this will eventually lead to widespread release of the movie is unclear for now, but Franco and Rogen certainly seemed happy about the latest developments nonetheless…
The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!
