Man (30s) dies following hit and run incident in Cork

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A man has died following a fatal hit and run incident that took place on the N25 near Cobh Cross, Tullagriene, Carrigtwohill in Cork in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 17 March.

The collision occurred at approximately 1.50am.

The male pedestrian, understood to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead. The vehicle involved, for which there is currently no specific description, failed to remain at the scene.

Initial enquiries indicate that the vehicle may have been travelling westbound on the N25 at the time of the incident.

Gardaí have preserved the scene so that a technical examination may be carried out. Local diversions have been set up to re-route traffic.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with relevant information, particularly and road users who travelled in the area between 1.30am and 2.30am who may have dash cam footage, to contact Midleton Garda Station on 021 462 1550.
