#TRAILERCHEST: Watch London get completely destroyed in the final trailer for The Mummy

JOE

“Welcome to a new world, of gods… and monsters…”

Welcome to #TRAILERCHEST, where we’re taking a look at rip-roaring reboot The Mummy.

Plot’s it all about?

After millennia of entombment beneath the sands of a desert, a crypt is opened and the contents removed. One of the things the archaeologists find is a sarcophagus containing an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella).

Awakened from her slumber, The Mummy releases a venemous wrath that wreaks havoc on the modern world. Only Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) and Jenny Halsey (Annabelle Wallis) stand between her and total destruction.

With the plot mainly under wraps (ayyy) we’re in for a few surprises when the film is released this June. From the trailer, we can see Cruise apparently surviving a plane crash, fighting off zombie-mummies, and screaming like a lightly-tapped Real Madrid player throughout the film.

The film features several scenes of The Mummy absolutely wrecking London (a possible revenge for the 74 year British occupation) as well as sharing some incredibly creepy quadruple-eye contact with Morton.

The reboot of the Mummy franchise is hotly anticipated by cinema audiences worldwide, with the last series of films starring Hollywood’s forgotten man, Brendan Fraser. This version has bona-fide action pedigree however, starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella, whose arse-kicking prowess in Kingsman: The Secret Service won her the Mummy role.

The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman, who has either written or produced a boatload of Hollywood action flicks (Transformers, Now You See Me, Watchmen). He has adventure film experience with The Legend of Zorro, and has worked with Cruise on Mission Impossible: III. With this in mind, The Mummy SHOULD be in safe hands…
