WATCH: Derry Girls star picks her favourite American review of the show so far

“There was some shit in there that I don’t think we ever covered in highschool.”

Derry Girls has gone down a treat with American viewers since it was released on Netflix in December.

Despite some viewers having a bit of difficulty understanding the accents (thank God for subtitles), the general consensus has been an extremely positive one.

Given the fact that the show is quintessentially Irish, some people were concerned that the humour wouldn’t do as well Stateside, but we should not have had those fears.

Following a number of positive reviews of the comedy, Nicola Coughlan (who plays Clare Devlin in the show), has shared a video of what she believes to be the best review of the show so far.

Coughlan shared the video, from a Twiter account called “Press & Hurl”, and described it as her “favourite review Derry Girls has ever had bar none”.

She compliments the way the show deals with how teenage girls actually act, praises it for being different, and talks about the importance of history on the show.

We agree with everything she says, but we’re not too sure about the British accent at the end. That might need improvement…

On Tuesday, we shared the news that Ian McElhinney, who plays Granda Joe on the show, had said that Season 2 of Derry Girls is set to be even “stronger” than the first.

We can’t wait.
